Constant rate infusion dilution
● FORMULA
Enter the prescribed dose and stock concentration to calculate dilution or an undiluted syringe pump rate.
Dose (mg/h) = dose × weight, divided by 1000 for mcg, multiplied by 60 for per minute, or divided by 24 for per day. Stock entered in mcg/mL is divided by 1000 to give mg/mL before calculation. Diluted: concentration = dose in mg/h / rate; total drug = concentration × container; drug volume = total drug / stock; diluent = container minus drug volume; duration = container / rate. On overflow, the rate is raised to the undiluted stock flow (dose in mg/h / stock), rounded up to the next half mL/h, and all outputs use that rate. Undiluted: rate = dose in mg/h / stock; duration = syringe volume / rate.
Always verify calculations with established references before clinical use.
